NEW ALLERGY PROGRAM

Allergies are not just related to runny noses and itchy eyes.

One in four people have allergies, although they may not have the typical symptoms that people think of when it comes to allergies. Fatigue, muscle and joint pain, chronic cough, asthma, frequent ear infections, sinus infections, and migraines are just a few other indicators of allergies.

Would you like to treat the cause of your allergies...not just the symptoms?

Warner Family Practice has created a new program utilizing allergy drops—also known as sublingual immunotherapy. Allergy drops work like allergy shots, slowly desensitizing you to your allergies, but they are done at home. Allergy drops can safely and effectively treat a broad range of allergies, including pollens, dander and other environmental allergies.

Allergy drops are formulated to your specific allergens that you have a reaction to. The drops varying in concentration levels over time, so that your body becomes trained to disregard these allergens once you come in contact with them. Unlike allergy shots, the drops are painless, portable and self-administered, so you can take them with you whether you are at work or traveling around the world. In addition, most patients feel relief from symptoms in as little as one to three months.

Who can take them?

Allergy drops are for anyone who suffers from allergies. They are especially wonderful for children. With minimal testing discomfort and the self-administered serum drops, toddlers as small as two are able to be treated.

An investment in your health and quality of life.

Aside from being a safe, effective and a patient-friendly treatment, allergy drop therapy is also very affordable. If you are covered under a participating insurance plan, your testing and office visits are typically covered; however, you may want to check with your insurance agency prior to your visit to verify your benefits. Allergy drops are not covered by insurance currently, and payment for drops is required at the time of service. The cost of mixing and dispensing the drops is lower than paying a weekly copay for allergy shots, as well as saving you time. Most patients agree this temporary investment is well worth the improvement in their health, reduction in allergy-related expenses and overall quality of life.

Five easy steps to our program.

Step One: Evaluation & Testing

Based on your exam and allergy history, your allergy provider will order a series of blood tests to identify which allergens are affecting you. Results of the tests will be available for your return visit in two weeks, at which time we will review your treatment plan.

Step Two: Your Treatment Plan

Based on your history, physical exam and test results, your allergy provider will develop a treatment plan. This plan may include more testing to determine all allergens, followed by preparing and mixing your allergy drops. Your provider might also recommend environmental changes and medication for symptom relief, however most patients who take allergy drops find that their need for medication decreases soon after allergy drop therapy begins.

Step Three: Receive Your Allergy Drops

Within two weeks your allergy drops will be ready for you to pick up. We will demonstrate how to take the drops and answer any questions you might have about your treatment plan.

Step Four: Time & Consistency

Take your drops every day as instructed. Some patients feel symptom relief in just a few weeks, but some may need more time to notice a difference. The key to successful allergy drop therapy is consistency—taking your drops every day as instructed by your provider—to keep your immune system stimulated and provide the most benefit.

As you notice improvement, keep taking your drops. Your provider will monitor your progress quarterly. Even though you may not be experiencing symptoms, it's important that you run through the entire course of treatment to ensure that you receive all the long-term benefits of your treatment. Most patients find their treatment takes 3-5 years until complete.

Step Five: Return Visits

In three months, we will want you to return so we can monitor your progress. We may want to retest you in one year in order to check your progression. We will ask that you return again quarterly, depending upon the severity of your allergies.
