Suffering from Un-Refreshing Sleep
Let’s run through a few statements. See if any of them sound familiar…
- You get 7-9 hours of sleep every night but you wake up feeling like you could sleep another 7-9
- Despite being horizontal for an adequate amount of time, you still have trouble peeling yourself off the bed sheets to start your day
- When you finally get up and get going, it seem to take hours before you feel energized
- You grab food and beverages to give you a lift
These are all symptoms of “un-refreshing sleep.” This may be one of the more common sleep-cycle issues you and your loved ones encounter. Un-refreshing sleep leads to the lack of energy you experience each day.
Wellness professionals refer to products like coffee, caffeinated soda, iced tea and energy drinks (the worst of them all), as “artificial energy.” Please, don’t hear it wrong – in small amounts these types of beverages are not so bad and can even enhance your short-term thought process.
However, artificial energy will never be a substitute for restful sleep.
Wouldn’t it be great if you woke up refreshed and didn’t need stimulants to help you feel energized and alert all day?
You May Be Closer to Quality Sleep Than You Think
Most individuals, yourself included, who experience chronic sleep issues do not believe there is an alternative. We become accustomed to the realities we live in; “this is just part of my life” becomes a mantra that prevents us from seeking help.
You work so hard caring and providing for those around you that there is often little time at the end of the day to research and make the necessary changes to help you get a better night’s rest.
Let your provider do the work for you. Schedule time to meet with your provider to sit down and talk through your struggle. Together you will discover the most practical, simple shifts you can make which will unleash a new outlook on your normal sleep cycles.
