Aaron Shumway, MD, joined Warner Family Practice / Apricus Medical Group in September 2022.
Aaron was born in Austin, Texas, grew up in rural Alabama, and graduated from high school in Chandler, Arizona. His father was an Air Force officer, and they moved a lot.
After working closely with physicians in his IT career, Aaron became interested in becoming a health care provider. He chose the medical field because he gets to work closely with people as he helps them through some of their most difficult life trials.
“Helping people understand the nature of their concerns and finding a solution together is the most rewarding part of practicing medicine.”
Aaron feels that prevention is the best way to minimize the amount of suffering and pain in a person’s life.
“Quantifying success is difficult. It can mean positive progress in a patient’s journey to better health. It can mean helping a patient through a negative setback. Every day can be successful with the right attitude.”
There’s no need to be embarrassed about past health choices. Aaron believes we all make bad choices sometimes, and there is never any shame in seeking improvement. The only shame is in refusing to learn and grow. Without failure, there is no success.
Aaron is recharged by time spent with his family, travel, and good food. He puts a priority on going to new places, trying new things, and having new experiences with the ones he loves.
“I know how difficult it can be to find the right doctor. I believe you are the best advocate for your health, and I will always listen with the goal of understanding. I will do my best for you.”
