Barbara Hoose, FNP-C, began her work at Warner Family Practice in 2015. Her approach to care is to listen to her patients and focus on the patients concern, helping them figure out a strategy to maintain their health.
Barbara was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona where she began her career in the medical field as a Medical Assistant in 1979. It was helping others and being able to apply cutting-edge technologies that got her interested in becoming a healthcare practitioner. The most rewarding part of her job is being a caregiver for multi-generational families and enjoying the relationships she has built between her and her patients.
Barbara received a Bachelor of Science, Nursing in 1997 from Arizona State University. In 2006 she earned her Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner from University of Phoenix.
For Barbara, when a patient begins to understand that their plan of care revolves around preventative care, that’s when she knows she’s done her job. Preventative care is what keeps a patient healthy rather than just treating illness.
“Success is defined over time, when a patient comes in with health issues, and you are able to provide treatment strategies that improve the patient’s health. Their outlook becomes health maintenance rather than just treating an illness.”
To Barbara, her patient’s goals become her goals. Working together she can navigate through issues and formulate a plan that is acceptable and best for the patient.
Barbara has three sons ages 31, 30 and 15. Outside the office she likes to spend time with her older sons and usually tries to take a trip or just go to lunch periodically with each of them. This helps her maintain a connection with her son’s personally and as a family.
“I listen to my patients and try to focus on what the patient is concerned about and help them figure out a strategy that works to maintain their health.”
