What Is CPX Testing?
You may have participated in exercise or training programs in the past and whether or not you completed that program, there were probably times where you wondered, “is this even really helping?” When you don’t see results it can be difficult to stay motivated. When you don’t feel results, it’s near to impossible to maintain motivation.
One of the reasons you fail to see and feel results is because your body is unique and different from any one else’s. Understanding how your body responds to intensity levels of exercise and stress is the pivotal step to maximizing your workout results.
What Is CPX and What Does It Provide Me?
CPX testing measures lung capacity and gives you an idea of cardiovascular functionality and ability. While it can provide you with amazing insight into your risk for disease such as cardiovascular disease and pulmonary disease, it gives you information to use as you seek to increase your capacity for exercise. The testing provides an in depth examination of two key metrics which usually run parallel. Using the CPX testing equipment providers can look at these two measurements and when they cross, in order to provide you with your optimum activity and exercise capacity.
In the short clip above, Dr. Merle Turner from Warner Family Practice in Chandler, Arizona discusses the very basics of CPX testing and helps you understand what it is.
